Arsenal transfer round-up: Mikel Arteta told what he needs to do to sign Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal transfer round-up: Mikel Arteta told what he needs to do to sign Aaron Ramsey

It’s all systems go for Arsenal in the transfer window as Mikel Arteta’s rebuild starts to gain some traction.

The Gunners are closing in on a move Brighton star Ben White, but are looking to strengthen various other areas on top of that.

Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a move to North London as Arteta looks for competition for Bernd Leno, but Sheffield United are not willing to sell their keeper on the cheap.

Aaron Ramsey has been linked with a sensational return to the Emirates after a disappointing time at Juventus and the Serie A club have provided an update on his future.

Arsenal are thinking long-term too as they eye another wonderkid following the imminent arrival of Mika Beireth from Fulham.

Juve give Ramsey update

A reunion between Ramsey and Arsenal would be one of the storied transfers of the summer if it materialises.

Nothing has come out of it yet, but the Welsh international is there for the taking if the Gunners are interested as Juventus reiterated that he is up for sale at the right price.

The Serie A side wants £8.5m for the midfielder, as well as a suitor who can cover the huge salary he is on in Turin.

But that is proving to be difficult so far as their demands have yet to be met.

Arsenal told price for Ramsdale

Arsenal have been told they will need to break a British transfer record if they want to sign Aaron Ramsdale this summer.

The Gunners have already had two bids rejected from Sheffield United with reports a third is on the way of £30m.

But that still might not be enough to sign the keeper as the Blades are holding out for £40m, according to The Star.

If Arsenal were to cough up the cash the Bramall Lane oufit are looking for, it would be a British record for a goalie which has stood for four years after Jordan Pickford joined Everton from Sunderland for £40m.

Arteta eyes another wonderkid

Arsenal are also looking to improve their squad in the long haul as they target Pacos de Ferreira youngster Matchoi Djalo.

This comes 24 hours of sealing a move for highly-rated striker Mika Biereth who left Fulham as a free agent after scoring 21 goals in 21 games last term.

The 18-year-old is available for around £1m as the Gunners weigh up a move for the teenager, according to The Sun.

Highly-rated Djalo became the youngest player ever to play in Portugal’s top flight as he climbed off the bench against Benfica in August 2019 as a 16-year-old.

Djalo has failed to live up to his billing since then with only five appearances to his name for Pacos de Ferreira, but has plenty of admirers, including Arteta, after impressive displays for Portugal U19s.
