A schoolboy has been arrested after three people were killed when a stolen van being driven the wrong way along a motorway smashed into a taxi.
The 28-year-old cab driver and his 49-year-old passenger died at the scene of the accident near Bradford in West Yorkshire, while an 18-year-old occupant of the van died in hospital several hours later.
The 15-year-old van driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to hospital where he was recovering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into the incident after it emerged that the van had failed to stop for a marked police car.
Police said the van then went the wrong way around a roundabout before driving towards oncoming traffic on the M606.
